Hello! I am a new lister, and this is my first post. I am researching a James Carratt Robinson who was born in Rotherham in 1862, in the subdistrict of Kimberworth, in Masbrough. I have the birth certificate. He was the son of Henry Robinson, glassblower, and his wife Harriet. I am unable to read Harriet's surname on this birth certificate, but it looks like Meaton, Heaton, or Maton. James grew up to be a glassmaker, and moved to County Durham, living in Gateshead, Durham. He married Frances Turner in Newcastle on Tyne. They had 5 children. He was killed at the end of the Boer War, reportedly the tallest man in the British Army at that time. On James' marriage cert, his father is listed as John Carrot Robinson, instead of the Henry that is on the birth certificate. I noted that also living in Gateshead was another glassmaker born in Rotherham, a possible brother of my James, He was William Robinson with a son called Henry. I would love to hear from anyone connected to these folks, janetchopkins@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
