G'day List, Just wondering if there were any formal adoption procedures in place in the UK circa 1886. My gf's parents died when he was about 8 and he was 'taken in' by relatives. Is it likely that there would have been any registration of such as he also apparently adopted their surname until he was 21yrs. Regards, Duncan Payling , Melbourne
