My south Yorkshire ancestors are: George SALKELD, son of Robert. George b. abt 1824/6 in Hoober, buried 12 Aug 1868 aged 43 in Brampton Bierlow. George, 24, married Sarah Ottley, and daur of William Ottley aged 22 of the hamlet of Street 30 Dec 1849 at Parish church, Wath upon Dearne. Charles TAYLOR, son of William Taylor (William b. abt 1818/9) and Elizabeth. Charles was a coal miner in 1861 census. He was born in Coaley Lane, Brampton Bierlow abt 1843/4. Charles was 25 when he married Mary Ann Salkeld after Banns on 5 April 1868 at 'The Licensed Rooms', Wath upon Dearne when he gave his occupation as an Iron Puddler. Mary was only 18 and the daur of George Salkeld above. She was baptised 13 Oct 1850 Wentworth Church. Son William TAYLOR b. 6 Jun 1868 Brampton Bierlow was a glass blower and was my maternal grandfather. He married Josephine Elizabeth CASE in West Ham, Essex on Christmas Day 1896. In the 1891 census he was stil in WRY aged 23 as a glass blower.
