Just wondered if my mob had made it to Rotherham area earlier than 1881 census which shows my ggf John Payling (Ag Lab from Fulbeck Lincs)/ ggm Sarah nee Cobb living at 28 Oak Terrace, Green Lane Rawmarsh along side his sister in law Mary Cobb. In 1871 if they were in Rawmarsh they would probably have 11 children and a coal miner. Would appreciate a look up please and also if there are any other references to Paling/Pailing/Payling that I should follow up. George Newsum was married to Robert Walker's dau Sarah Ann after 1881 census and 1891 finds the Walkers living with the Newsums at Clough Road.
