    3. Hi Sheila Have you looked for the births, marriages and deaths of those who have such events after 1837 via FreeBMD - http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl Although all the entries have not been included yet, I have found some of my relatives already using this site. Also, it might help others to help you if you tell us where you are in the world - county/country is all that's necessary. Good luck Tracy Listowner ----- Original Message ----- From: Sheila Gavin To: ENG-ROTHERHAM-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, May 26, 2003 2:17 AM Subject: [ROTH] Fitzgerald/Gaynor I am still searching for information about John Fitzgerald, born in Ireland. He was a laborer and bar keeper in Rotherham from about 1854-1882. He was the licensee for the Wagon Wheel Arms, renamed the Royal George in the late 1860's to early 1870's. He was born about 1828-1830. His wife was (Margaret) Ann Gaynor. She was born about 1831-32. There children were Mary Ann, (died in 1874) John,( died in April,1883 ) Frederick, Anna,James, Esther, Nora and Mary (named after the first Mary) . Ann Fitzgerald, John's wife, died in 1882. I can't find her date of death or place of death but it was likely still in the Rotherham or Sheffield area. I can't find them in the 1881 Census online but I know the children were living in Rotherham in 1883. The son, John, was killed by his brother Frederick in an altercation. After the initial investigation he was bound over to the Azziz. (?) I don't know the result of that but young Fred did come to the US later. He stayed a short time and returned to England. He had a daughter in England,Lucy Fitzgerald. John( the father) immigrated about 1881 and eventually all the children joined him in the United States. Info I am searching for : where in Ireland were John and his wife born? when and where did (Margaret) Ann Fitzgerald die and where is she buried? What happened at the trial of Frederick ? Where was Fred's daughter born and what happened to her? She was probably born about 1895-1900. ==== ENG-ROTHERHAM Mailing List ==== Visit ENG-ROTHERHAM archives for past postings: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/ENG-ROTHERHAM ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

    1. [ROTH] ROBINSON, SIMPSON - Surname Interests
    2. Hi All: Here are my interests in the Rotherham area: ROBINSON - ggfather REGINALD ROBINSON (b June 1891)and his brother JOHN (b 1898). Both born in ROTHERHAM UNION WORKHOUSE to ELIZABETH ROBINSON (father unknown, could be John Sr.). Have tried tracing this family thru 1891 census but no luck so far. Have located both Reginald & his brother John on 1901 census as adopted children of the CHARLES MAYCOCK family of KIMBERWORTH. EDWARDS - ggmother LILY EDWARDS daughter of JOSEPH EDWARDS married Reginald Robinson in Rotherham abt 1911. Have located this family on 1901 census. KILBRIDE - ggmother ANNIE KILBRIDE was daughter of MICHAEL JOSEPH KILBRIDE of Ireland and HANNAH MARIA OXLEY of Wakefield. Have info on Michael Joseph's parents as they were living with the family in Wakefield. Have located this family on 1881 and 1901 census. SIMPSON - ggfather SAMUEL SIMPSON married ANNIE KILBRIDE in PARKGATE. Can trace the SIMPSON line back about 200 yrs through Derbyshire & Shropshire. OXLEY - Believe Hannah Maria Oxley's parents to be THOMAS and EMMA OXLEY of Stanley Wrenthorpe but have not yet confirmed this. Need 1861 census info. p.s. Keep up the Good Work Listers! Dad has found a cousin in England who had traced the Simpson line back 200 yrs and had all the paperwork to prove it!!! and also located another cousin in Australia whose father had lost touch with his family in the 1950s!!! 1. [ROTH] Bloor's in Rotherham
    2. Hi all, i am interested in the Bloor family name, in the Rotherham area. i have traced back to James Bloor born around 1795, married Mary Hudson in Wath on Dearne Dec 1st 1819. i have a couple of questions to anyone in the group, as i am relatively new to the geneology game. What are the best ways for someone from the US to search for information on a relative prior to the census of 1837? Also if i were to visit the area, where would the Parish records for the Rotherham area be stored. Can i contact someone there directly to search for records

    1. [ROTH] COATES
    2. Hello....have just signed on in the hopes that I can find some help with the following family as they appeared in the 1841 census of Rotherham: Radley Row, Rotherham Enum Dist. 3 JAMES COATES - Age 40 - Laborer ANN COATES - Age 45 - wife EDWARD COATES - Age 15 - son The 1851, 1861 and 1871 census' tell me that they lived in Wellgate, Rotherham and that James was born in Holmes, Masbrough, Ann in Greasbrough and Edward in Masbrough. I haven't found a satisfactory marriage in the IGI and my biggest problem is that there should have been another son, GEORGE COATES b. 1829 whom I can't find either. I have a feeling that ANN may have been his second wife and perhaps George was with the Grandparents in 1841 (whoever they were)..
