I have read the recent messages regarding the Teasdales of Kirbymoorside with interest. My family of Teasdale lived in the Masham, East Witton, and Middleham areas, but in the late eighteenth century William and Mary (nee Smith) Teasdale left Middleham with their children to live in Kirbymoorside. The family were all very involved in coal mining at the time (with some farming). Many of the more recent Teasdale's in the Kirbymoorside area are descended from this couple, but there are other Teasdales in the area who do not. I have pieced together my information from various census, IGI, and some PR's. I intend to try to discover more at Northallerton Record Office this summer.
