    1. [N'Yorks] Re: COOPERs of North Deighton
    2. Hi Steve, Don't have the 1861 census, but the PRs for Kirk Deighton parish, published by YAS, show the following COOPERs (pre 1837): 1804-Aug-8 mar Joseph COOPER & Ellen PETTY botp (L) 1805-Jun-16 bap John s Joseph & Ellen COOPER, Kirk Deighton 1806-Dec-10 bap Mary dau Joseph & Elinor, KD 1810-Dec-30 bap William son Joseph & Ellen, KD 1815-Sep-17 bap Frances dau Joseph & Helen, shoemaker, KD 1818-Sep-6 bap Elizabeth dau Joseph & Ellen, shoemaker, KD 1823-Jun-29 bap Joseph son Joseph & Ellen, shoemaker, KD 1826-Dec-3 bap Charles son of Joseph & Ellen, shoemaker, KD 1830-Dec-14 bap Sarah dau John & Mary, farmer, North Deighton 1832-Dec-31 bap John son John & Mary, farmer, ND 1834-Oct-20 bap Francis son John & Mary, farmer, ND 1836-Sep-5 bap Hannah dau John & Mary, farmer, ND There are various other earlier COOPER entries if these might be of interest, but no others for these names. The only other marriage I found was on 23 Dec 1751 between Willm. COOPER of Wetherby and Ann GAUNT, of Ingmanthorpe. Ann (wife of Wm. COOPER, Wetherby) was buried on 1 May 1753 I couldn't find any other burials, and there are no SEYMOURs at all. Re. Willoughby: there is a place called Thorpe Willoughby about 2 miles from Selby; also a Willerby in the East Riding. If trying Wetherby, Spofforth was the original parish. Hope this may be of some help. Best wishes, Roz

    2. Steve Seymour
    3. Thanks > 1832-Dec-31 bap John son John & Mary, farmer, ND Looks like the John I'm looking for - is listed as farmer in 1881 (at 122 Camp Road, Leeds). Harriet SEYMOUR was his second wife (widowed), children from first marriage were born at Pickhill (north east of Ripon). I suspect family moved to the Ripon area between 1841 and 1869, your information should help with census lookups.
