I have evidence of the birth year of my GGfather. The year is further backed up the 1851, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. In every census his age shows an increase of 10 years so he obviously knew his correct age, this is until he got married in 1886 where according to his marriage certificate he became three years younger. In my experience marriage ages you rather than makes you younger. Can anybody think of a reason why his age on the marriage certificate should be 39 rather than the correct age of 42, I guess this could be a mistake but it looks out of character as all census reports show what I believe to be his correct age.
