Dear Rose, I have a lot of Clark's in Marske from this period back. James Clark c 11 Jun 1797 in Marske. Father Joseph Clark, farmer, Marsk. James moved away from Marske although his brother William stayed around the area and was a shoemaker in Marske. Their father Joseph Clark was cihristened 6 Jun 1762, Marske son of Joseph Clark. He married Mary Cuthbert 27 Jul 1786 at Marske. I've seen your Robert Clark in the PR transcripts and possibly on the census, but I've never made a definite connection.
