Richard is correct, the church is St. Mary's, Foulness, Essex. I deliberately did not put in a comma, as one was not in the original paper. I have made a conscious effort to transcribe EXACTLY the syntax as it appears in the newspaper. I am getting much better at it now (must be the practice!) and even include the case for the place names as it appears in the paper. The only thing I do away from the original is to capitalise the surnames. I suppose the purists would take me to task on that, but I think it is much easier to spot those surnames. Sometimes I have difficulty in capitalising surnames. Should I capitalise McIntosh as MCINTOSH or McINTOSH?. Sometimes it is difficult to spot the surname, as the person is often christened with firstnames from the surnames of earlier generations. Double barrelled surnames can also be missed.
