Hi Mike, Ripon Cathedral is the parish church! Not unusual at all for anyone to marry there if they live within the parish. Prior to 1836 it was a collegiate church covering a very large parish. Over time new parishes were formed in the outlying areas, including Pateley Bridge, Sharow, Bishop Monkton, etc. where there had previously been only chapels of ease. The only other parish church in Ripon city is Holy Trinity, consecrated in 1827. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Roz
