Hello William, I did a search on google and received thousands of hits for the search "Historical Weather" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22Historical+Weather%22&bt nG=Google+Search I also remember, either hearing or reading, many years ago that in the time frame you mentioned there were very cold winters. The observation that was made were the paintings that were made of people ice-skating on the frozen waters around the lowlands of Amsterdam. I am not an art historian so I can tell you any of the names of the famous artists of that era. However, what they depicted in their art work was very unusual as it related to the local weather. Some people have even refereed to this time as a mini ice age. I would suggest going through some search engines that you like and searching for Historical Weather. Good luck. Those of us who have been around for only 65 years will say that in our childhood the winters were much more severe than recent years. We have visions of roads blocked for days at a time. Being unable to leave the drive, beside our houses, in our cars, without 4 people to help get the car moving. We remember skating on the park lake. Of having to put anti-freeze in our cars by 1st September. Nothing like this has happened in the past 20 years. I'm sure that, in spite of what the "experts" tell us, the climate is changing fast. I doubt that there are any records, which go back more than 150 years, with reliability.
