Good morning all, I am new to the list and to Yorkshire research, and have signed up to see if anyone has interest in or connection to the GARGETT family (also sometimes GARGET or GARGATE). I have traced my line back from Co. Durham to the birth in Stapleton around 1813 of John GARGET. I understand from a correspondent that there were GARGETs in Stapleton up to 1840 at least. I am aware that there is a heavy concentration of GARGETTs in Teesdale, but do not have any connection there - yet. Does any lister have a connection here? And does anyone have local records for Stapleton which are relevant? Finally (sinking feeling) where is the record office which will cover Stapleton?
