    1. [N'Yorks] Where is/was Bank Close Northallerton?
    2. Jenny DeAngelis
    3. Yesterday I received a copy of the newspaper obituary for Richard HIRST who died on the 17th March 1833 at Bank Close nr. Northallerton aged 61. Richard was the eldest brother of Mr. Francis Hirst of the Golden Lion Inn Northallerton and they were two of the sons of Godfrey Hirst, and his wife Dorothy neƩ DUNHILL, who had been the owner of the Golden Lion from about 1770 until son Francis took over when Godfrey fell ill in the early 1800s. Richard had been in business in Kingston Upon Hull East Yorks., as an ironmonger and cutler along with another brother Jonathan but it would seem Richard returned to Northallerton just before the death of his father in February 1807. What I want to know is where was/is Bank Close nr. Northallerton? was it a house, a hamlet/village or what? Does anyone else have an interest in the name HIRST/HURST in the general North Yorks., area? some of the following generation, after Richard, went to the Whitby area. The names Godfrey, Edwin and Francis were carried on into later generations too. Regards Jenny DeAngelis. Spain.
