Hi Harry, Thanks for the additions. My GREENS flitted about a fair bit but I have an Elijah Green in the Skelton area about the right time so I am wondering if Ellis could be a diminutive of Elijah. The "John Green Miner .Imprisoned for Poaching . Marske . April 1878" is another possibility so I would love further details. My John would have been born in 1838 if that helps.
