    3. Jo/Wendy I have also transcribed some stuff regarding Sand Hutton Hall and it has been put on the GENUKI site for Yorkshire. See http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/Transcriptions/NRY/SandHuttonHall.html there are others bits and pieces, and if you look on the general page for Bossall (Sand Hutton, and Flaxton, together with about 6 or 7 other villages, were in Bossall parish) http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Bossall/index.html you will see some more transcripts I went to primary school in Sand Hutton, (as did my brother and sister - and going further back, so did my father and his sister). My father lives in Buttercrambe, so I know the area pretty well too, although I don't have the ease of access that Jo does, as I now live about 120 miles away. Sand Hutton Hall used to belong to a James Walker (quite famous in the area) and a couple of years ago a 'history' of Sand Hutton was compiled by the villagers. I'm not sure if this is the James Walker you are looking for but if it is I could probably get you a copy of the book which has some interesting information about the village in it. Sand Hutton Hall was demolished some years ago and now has a few 'modern' houses built on the site. A local man also wrote a history about Sand Hutton Hall - I could try and find a copy of that for you too. Incidentally, from 1958 to 1993 my parents lived in a house built by James Walker in 1888 - it was, and still is, a very unusual and quirky house - reflecting his eccentricity. He also had his own railway on the estate - remains of which can still be seen. I can also go to the local Church - St Mary's at Sand Hutton and have a look at the inscriptions in the Church - I seem to remember there are some to the Walker family. If you think any of this might be of interest let me know! Best wishes, from a sunny, but frosty Yorkshire Jo Green ----- Original Message ----- From: "Wendy Woodhouse" <pwoodhouse@vtown.com.au> To: <ENG-NORTH-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 21, 2003 3:03 AM Subject: RE: [N'Yorks] Interests > > > Hi Joyce I am trying to find some information on the WALKER family born > FLAXTON this is very near SAND HUTTON I think James WALKER b Flaxton 1862 > and William WALKER b Flaxton 1865(this is on the 81 census) there mother > Jane Strangeway b Thornton le clay 1835.
