Bob, The Hill info you now give (below) updates some you mailed me in 1995 - but I cannot find Samuel Hill in Whitby in the 1851 census index, and the 1881 census transcript (below) gives Samuel b 1813 (cf 1816) in Whitby (cf Hull)...although we cannot necessarily read too much into that. You now give the 1862 Hill/Readman marriage as Brunswick St. Methodist Chapel - is this the same as St Mary's... it was a little unusual for a Readman not to marry in the Catholic Church...in 1995 you gave St Mary's as the place of marriage...
