    1. [N'Yorks] Re: Property records at Northallerton
    2. Greetings, > I am sure that North Yorks County Record Office has some > form of land ownership documents The Record Office holds the records of the North Yorkshire Registry of Deeds, dating from the 1740s (second oldest such registry in the country, after Middlesex). They are indexed, but are, I believe, recorded under the name of the recipient of the property rather than the vendor. There are also land tax records and estate maps in the archive; it would be worth enquiring at Northallerton to check whether there is a copy of the tithe map and apportionment among these documents, which would list the owners of land field by field and give the state of cultivation. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Roz
