    3. Dear listers, It was a lovely day today and we did what family historyites do-went to Churchyards!-Gillamoor and Farndale in North Yorkshire. We have no ancestors around here at all but while we were there we wrote down all the surnames on the stones. (Compulsive or what!) We listed seperately the more recent names in the little cemeteries- though,of course, many are the same.. We will happily post these indexes (indeces?) to the list if it is OK with the list owners (there will be living descendants and we don't want to upset anyone.) If anyone wants the actual Inscriptions we will go up again and get the detail/a photo on the next lovely day! These may have already been transcribed by someone but never mind. 3. Hello, I too have visited these lovely old places on4 trips to the UK. I am descended from Newark Wilson, farmer and blacksmith (1819 - 1880), of Cowl House, Bransdale, Kirkbymoorside parish who with his wife Hannah Wood (1819 - 1896) is buried at Cockayne - (St. Nicholas). He was born at Houlsyke, nr. Glaisdale and she - at Glaisdale, NRY. I have Green relatives, buried at St. Aidan's, Gillamoor. They used to be miners up on Rudland Rigg Moor Houses) and Harland Moor. 3. Hi Sandra I would very much like to see your information listed. I have ancestors that lived in the Gillamoor area between 1800-1900 possibly longer. My curiosity is just about overwhelming. My intrest is in the SHEPHERDS in Gillimoor but would carry over to Farndale as I have references to this area as well. Hope you could help me out here. 3. I am also interested in Gillamoor/Fadmoor/Farndale and am interested in the name SLEIGHTHOLME. I looked in the published Monumental Inscriptions by the Cleveland Family History Society for Farndale and found no SHEPHERDS. As far as I know, no one has recorded Gillamoor. I have checked with the Cleveland society before on this. These particular parishes suffer by being on the border of Family History Societies, and tend to get left out.
