Hi Grenville,Charles James Todd born near Whitby 1886 apprentice boiler maker with William Grey &C0.(Hartlepool?) .3years with Durham Light Infantry. Received medallion from person he saved off South Pier(Hartlepool?) 4-6-1904. Migrated to South Australia with brother between 1904 -1914.Joined AIF(Australian Imperial Force) 1915 and served in Middle East. His parents,John born 1843 and Emma born 1853? followed to Sth.Aust. prior to 1915. We are asuming that CJ who gave his birth place on enlistment to AIF as near Whitby ,may have moved with parents to West ?Hartlepool .Is this where William Grey &co.operated? We have found birth dates of his parents in cemetary at Cheltenham SA .We have sent this information many times to North Yorks list and am now clutching at straws If you can help we would be most Grateful.
