    1. [NYorks] Alice WRIGHT BOSOMWORTH - Carlton Miniott, Sand Hutton, Thirkleby
    2. Jean Schorfheide
    3. Hello, listers! I lost my mother last month, after 45 years of sharing our love of family history. Now, I'm bound and determined to resolve some of the questions we puzzled over for years. Alice WRIGHT was born about 1785 (in Carlton Miniott, according to her obituary). She married George BOSOMWORTH 23 Nov. 1805, Thirkleby, North Riding, Yorkshire (have copy from the Thirkleby Bishop's Transcripts, he was from Felixkirk). She died and was buried 11 Dec. 1836 at Thirkleby (have copy from the Thirkleby Bishop's Transcripts). The questions are where was she born and who where her parents and siblings? We've checked the Bishop's Transcripts for Carlton Miniott (records from 1835 only), Sand Hutton, Sowerby, Felixkirk, and Thirkleby (WRIGHTs present, but no baptism for Alice). I'm sure we checked the BTs for Thirsk, also with no baptism for Alice, but can't put my hands on the information we extracted. Even the IGI has no entries for Alice WRIGHT in the right time period and area. Would SKS going to the NYRO be willing to check the original (or microfilm) parish register for her marriage in Thirkleby and see if her parents are listed (they aren't in the BTs)? Does anyone know anything about Alice or have any suggestions on which BTs I should check next? I will continue to search the parishes within an ever widening radius of Thirsk, but would appreciate any suggestions for narrowing down the search. In return, I have two LDS films for St. Mary's, Scarborough - Marriages 1864-1892 and Burials 1689-1892 + Marriage Banns 1848-1892, and the LDS film of Cayton (near Scarborough) Bishop's Transcripts. I will do lookups for anyone interested but if you don't have an exact date it may take a while! <grin> Thanks in advance for any and all assistance and suggestions. Happy hunting!
