Hello I am researching SNOWDONs, originally from Witton le Wear, Byers Green, Brancepeth areas of County Durham, they moved to Lingdale, East Cleveland /Yorkshire area about 1865 with the railways. I have family information from 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 census I am looking for any information about John SNOWDON, (my GGGrandfather) who married Elizabeth Hannah CLAYTON in 1869, he owned the Lingdale Tavern in Lingdale and the Commercial Hotel in Boosbeck, plus alot more property in this area, all information taken from his will. They had 9 children, but only 6 survived. I am also lead to believe that he was inventor of several items, some he patented, some he sold on before completion. If any one has any information about him, his family or his invention it would be very much appreciated. Other names I am researching in connection with SNOWDON are BELL, THUBBRON, CLAYTON, SCOLLETT, ELLSMORE, HETHERINGTON, CARVER, SUCKLING, and WALKER. Many thanks Alison Small
