    3. Hello everyone I am new to the list and am hoping that someone may be researching HUGILLS and have come across the birth and whereabouts in 1841 census of my ancestor, Eleanor HUGILL in the HUTTON RUDBY area, where her son James was born in 1821. She was then a spinster and presumably remained so until her death on 4th Feb.1848 (death noted by James in the family Bible, but unfortunately no age). Her death was registered in Stokesley district. Would this include Hutton Rudby, I wonder? James HUGILL moved to County Durham after his marriage at Hartlepoolin 1846 to Elizabeth BATTY . Does anyone have any information about her parents, John and Ann BATTY in the Cleveland area? John was a weaver and Ann died in County Durham on 13th Feb. 1876, aged 89 years (also in Family Bible). I wish all ancestors had kept one! Regards, Margaret Murdoch in Cumbria.

    3. Hello Margaret, I cannot help you with your search for Hugill's in Hutton Rudby except to confirm that Hutton Rudby is in Stokesley district (It's a village about 5-6 miles west of Stokesley). If your research into Hugill's takes you back further in time and you end up with the Hugills from Whorlton then I may be able to help out. I have Hugills (Hewgills and Hugalls) in my ancestry but they're all from Whorlton and all from 1797 or earlier. regards, Peter -----Original Message----- From: margaret murdoch [mailto:mgtmurdoch@clara.co.uk] Sent: 19 October 2003 22:48 To: ENG-NORTH-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NYorks] Eleanor HUGILL in Hutton Rudby Hello everyone I am new to the list and am hoping that someone may be researching HUGILLS and have come across the birth and whereabouts in 1841 census of my ancestor, Eleanor HUGILL in the HUTTON RUDBY area, where her son James was born in 1821. 3. Hi Peter, I'm also interested in the Hugill family around Whorlton. It seems a fairly common name around the area. I've got a Miriam Hugill baptised 1764 at Whorlton and married 1791 in Stokesley to Ralph Selby. I believe Miriam's parents were John Hugill and Ann Belt. Does this connect with you at all Peter? 3. Hello Peter, Thanks for the confirmation about Hutton Rudby being in the Stokesley district. Looks now as though I may be looking for Eleanor HUGILL'S birth around 1781. I notice that Whorlton is quite close to Hutton Rudby, so will be back to you if and when I can confirm it. Regards, Margaret. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Appleton" <peter.appleton3@ntlworld.com> To: <ENG-NORTH-YORKS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: 20 October 2003 9:57 Subject: RE: [NYorks] Eleanor HUGILL in Hutton Rudby > Hello Margaret, > > I cannot help you with your search for Hugill's in Hutton Rudby except to > confirm that Hutton Rudby is in Stokesley district (It's a village about 5-6 > miles west of Stokesley).
