Hi all I have been chasing down some more of the PERCIVALs in my tree. They are based around Carperby/Aysgarth/Askrigg for much of the 19C and I have got one Eliza Percival, a widow aged 59, whose occupation according to the 1881 census is "Monthly Nurse and C". Hi Brian, A "Monthly Nurse" would look after a woman for up to a month after childbirth. She was often also the midwife or "Confinement Nurse" hence the "C".
