Hello all, Before I go to the expense of purchasing it, I would like to know if the marriage registration of a widow in 1870 would give any details such as the date of her previous marriage, maiden surname, parents etc. Is anyone able to help, please? Ailsa The information will include her former married name and her maiden name but not the date of her former marriage or its end date. It will include her father's name and occupation (as and if known to the bride), and if he was deceased, will usually say so. It will have no details of her mother - other than her name/signature in the slightly unusual event she was a witness (and even then it will not identify the relationship of the witnesses to the couple).
