    3. Hi, I have a death certificate for a James CALVERT. It says an inquest was held and the coroners name etc. Would someone be able to tell me how I can find out more about the inquest. Also newpapers around 1901 for Egton. Thanks Margaret rita292@wn.com.au

    3. Hello Margaret, I was looking for something similar just recently. It was suggested to me that I write either to the Records Office or the library nearest to the place where the inquest took place, with as much information as possible - names dates, place etc. It seems that most coroner's inquests were published in the local newspaper. In my case it was the Northallerton Library. They were able to give me the name of the newspaper, the edition and page number. As their film copy did not photocopy well, they sent me on to the British Library Newspaper Library, who were able to provide me with the appropriate photocopy. It was a relatively expensive exercise, but well worth it. I have the newspaper report on the event (in minute by minute detail), the coroner's report and even an account of the funeral and the names of all those who attended. Hope this helps Ailsa Petrie margaret watkins wrote: > > Hi, > I have a death certificate for a James CALVERT.
