My g.g.grandfather, John BELL (b. Great Smeaton l8l7) had a younger sister Mary Stephenson BELL who was born at Sockburn (prob. Girsby) in l825. I believe the family stayed in the Gt. Smeaton area however Mary died at Sutton under Whitestonecliffe and was buried back at Gt. Smeaton on 22nd May l834 aged "nine and a half". I am intrigued to know whether the BELLS actually moved to the Sutton under Whitestonecliffe area at this time so wondered whether any newspaper records might have survived from l834 - and, if so, which would cover S.U.W.
