Looking for the graves of Thomas and Mary Wilkinson nee Pybus, last known to have been in their 60's and living in Welbury in 1891 census. Thomas was born in Skelton and Mary was born in Liverton. I would be most grateful if someone could confirm this is their burial site and, even better, transcribe the stone if it is indeed in Welbury (St. Leonard's, I think) cemetery. --Tom Wilkinson

" There is no Wilkinson headstone in Welbury, St. Leonard's Churchyard. In 'Welbury - a local history', the only Wilkinson I could find was in the Roll of Honour for World War I. George Wilkinson, Private in the Yorkshire Regiment is listed. There were some Wilkinson's in Appleton Wiske, including Thomas Wilkinson who was listed as the father of Henry Wilkinson at his marriage to Elizabeth Cranson in 1897; and at the marriage of Grace Wilkinson to William Ellar in 1898; and at the marriage of Ada Wilkinson to Jonathan Dedman in 1900; and at the marriage of George Wilkinson to Elizabeth Day in 1908. There were also a number of other Wilkinsons in Appleton Wiske. Additionally there was a Joseph Pybus who married Margaret Steel in 1859 in Appleton Wiske.
