Thanks to all who have responded to my request re Soothill and I`ve found it on the "Oldmaps site" under Dewsbury, must have been a right horrible place to live unless it had it`s name from the Norse. Learnt this week that a `wong` was norse for a meadow. so hill I can follow but the prefix of soot !! escaapes me. Was it a `Black Hill ? Can anyone help Jack
