Hello Hilary, If you could give a name or two, and some relevant dates it might help us. My great grandmother was Mary Hannah Bean, born in 1854 in Malton. I have not found any connection to any Bean in or near Normanby, (yet!), but have lots of Beans from around the Malton/Slingsby area. If you feel you want to contact me off -list, please don't hesitate. But as there are other Bean researches out there, a reply to the list in the first place might be a good idea.
