A Star Chamber court case in 1535 York had up a gang of folk for rioting and using bows, arrows and all manner of naughty things. (one of my ancestors!!!) The place it all happened in is called BRAKYNGBARGH. Can any of our noble group, think where this could be??? Theoretically it should be near Thirsk but all my maps and bending of village names draw a blank. Much obliged if anyone can suggest. William
How about Breckenbrough, about 4 miles West of Thirsk, on the A167 Northallerton - Topcliffe road, a mile and a half North of the crossroads with the A61 Thirsk to Ripon road?
