Was horrified to read an item in Friday's "Darlington & Stockton Times" (p.13) entitled "Stones for the picking", inviting "anyone wo wants stones for rock gardens or walling" to collect them free of charge from Leyburn cemetery, as part of "tidying up" the cemetery. In the process, apparently, "many stones have been revealed and need to be removed". This is the project of three named women councillors, one of whom is quoted as saying: "Anyone who has a project which needs some stone should go down to the cemetery and help themselves". Surely these stones are not gravestones or memorials? What on earth is being done in the name of tidiness? Does anyone locally have any further information about this? Best wishes, Roz
