I wonder if anyone can help sort out this branch of my tree by seeing if they are on the 1871 and 1891 census. Here's the story so far:...I think! Hannah Duck b 1845 at Sandsend married Zachariah Fletcher. He died in 1870. Hannah (I think) marries Walter Stapley in 1872 but there is no record of Walter in 1881. She had 2 children to Zachariah...Mary and Lumley. She had 5 children to Walter...Henry, Walter William, John George, James, and Matthew Edward. These are all shown on the 1881 census except Mary, and Lumley is recorded as Lumbley Stapley..not Fletcher. So where was Hannah and her children in 1871 and 1891? Any help appreciated. Janet
Hi Janet, I'm sending you images of 1871, 1881 and 1901. I think Walter must have been at sea ( or similar) in 1881 as the rest of them are there. I don't have time to look in 1891 but they will be there somewhere, maybe a mis spelling or transcribe.Let me know if you don't get an image of that and I will look later. Many thanks Ann and also Cathy for your help. Yes, Walter could have been at sea as he was later a dock labourer. Thanks again.
