Hello Peter, It's very kind of you to help out. I got one other reply, helping me to locate the place and giving me the postcode. Here are a few more details. My great aunt, whose existance I was unaware of until very recently, married a scot named John McClintock in 1933 or 34. They moved from Stockton on Tees to Loftus and apparantly had a smallholding at Cowscote hall. I don't know if they lived in the building or just used the grounds. My aunt's name was Sarah but she was known as Sally. She died there in January 1957 and is buried in Loftus. Her husband went back to Scotland after her death. Any additional information would be very welcome. Regards, Bil Harley Hi Bil, I don't know whether you got any replies to your query. I passed it along to a friend of mine who is one of the local history "experts" in that part of the world. He has come back with the following information: Cowscote Hall appears on an Ordnance Survey Map dated 1914 as an Infectious Diseases Hospital. It is located in Deepdale Woods which lie to the south of Skinningrove and to the west of Loftus. Its location is covered by the current postcode of TS13 4RT. My friend has, in turn, a contact in Loftus who could possibly provide more details if you could let me have names and dates that relate to this location. regards, Peter Appleton
