Hi Peter, Thank you for your reply. Enquiring about Thirsk and Sowerby was just the beginning!! I have decided to widen my search to include surrounding parishes. Although I have found no indication of my Kilvington family in Nth or Sth Kilvington to date, I plan to see what OPRs are available and order them in to trawl through. When I visited Northallerton Library last June, I found mention of the name de Kilvington in the Victoria History series, as being in the Sth Kilvington area as far back as 1300.
