Lorraine, I have not had a lot of joy, but one or two possible sightings might give you a lead. I have checked MIs for Kirkby Malzeard and Dallowgill, but there's only one William ALLINSON recorded: William ALLINSON of West Leas died 13 July 1848 aged 47. Slightly confusingly there is an entry in the burial register for Kirkby Malzeard: 1848-Jul-16 bur William ALLINSON of Bull Ing aged 74 (coroner's warrant) Rather a difference in age, so one or other may have been reversed when transcribed. Obviously not your man, but perhaps related. There is evidence of a family from West Leas/Leas listed in Kirkby Malzeard PRs, with baptisms as follows: 1803-Oct-17 bap John son of William, West Lees 1806-Jan-18 bap Mary dau of William, West Lees 1807-Aug-15 bap Elizabeth dau of William, West Lees 1809-Mar-27 bap Jane dau of William, West Lees However, I did also note the following burials: 1852-Apr-14 bur Francis ALLINSON of High Misses, aged 21 1866-Aug-18 bur William ALLINSON, aged 78 There were also one or two Mary's - do you have an approximate date of birth? Couldn't find the family in the 1841 census, though there were two ALLINSON families farming in the Laverton area of Kirkby Malzeard district: 1) Edward, aged 50, plus Sarah, 50, Martin 11, Peter 8 and Sarah 4. 2) Robert, aged 70, with Elizabeth, also 70, and Margaret, 20. If either of these sound useful let me know and I'll transcribe the details. It would seem quite likely that your William moved back into the area where his family originated. Do you have a place of birth from a later census? The 1841 gives only Yorkshire. Not sure if this is of any help. Best wishes, Roz
