Hello List, Is there a church for West Burton? If so, what is it's name? I am wanting to establish the maiden name of a JANE who married John Pounder Hammell/Hamill some time 1826-7. Jane and John later had an infant son born one month before the census of 1841; Thomas, I think. This would put his birth month as May, 1841. Would this information maybe help to find Jane's maiden name. Is there any facility for Marriage Record look -ups? There seems to be one for Monumental Inscriptions. Jane appears to have died after 1848 but before 1852. Could somebody advise me, please, on any aspect of my queries? Yours, Julie
Hi Julie, There is a methodist chapel at West Burton, but the village falls in Aysgarth parish, so for C of E records you need to be looking in the Aysgarth registers. Have a look at the Genuki pages for Aysgarth - http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Aysgarth/index.html The IGI shows the following information: marriage: John HAMMELL and Jane CALVERT, 11 May 1826, Aysgarth The christenings at Aysgarth have been covered by the LDS for the time period you are looking at, so no doubt you will find them on the IGI also.
