Hello listers Does anyone have any ideas on the following please. My great grandmother was Mary (Ann) SMITH (maiden name as far as I know!) On various records (census, marriage certificate, death certificate, burial record) her age varies pinning her birth anywhere between 1832 and 1839. Cannot find her 1851 and 1861 census. Census returns for 1871 through 1891 gives her birthplace as Guisborough Yorkshire. Suddenly in 1901 this becomes Eggeven or Oggeven near York. Research in a gazetteer and atlas there is no such place. Does anyone have any suggestion what Eggeven or Oggeven (near York) could be? Mary Ann also had a son Joseph (Smith) born c1856 Guisborough. He appears 1871 census then disappears again. These are my most worrysome brick walls at present, I would love to push them over! Many thanks Margaret W
