Don I am sure you will get replies from the rootsweb but I am only saying that some years ago I was friendly with the Land Agent to the Wharton Estate and at The Great Yorkshire Show recall being introduced to the present head of the family. I did visit Skelton but never managed to see the Castle. I knew more of their estate at Gilling West Near Richmond as the village entered Yorkshire in Bloom and I was a Judge at the time. Also I have visited Gilling church to search for my ELGEY's. I also know that Bibles were often presented by these landed families and have seen one from Castle Howard, Viscount Morpeth, son of The Earl of Carlisle, presented them to people on the Estate.
