Hi all, I am stuck on the birth/baptism of John Stainsby, born ca 1822/25 at Northallerton, but he is in Darlington in the 1871 census as a Tile Maker. When John (1822) married Mary Clement in 1843 they named two of their sons 'John' and 'Johnson'. in 1853 and 56 and appear in the 1871 census. I have an 1841 census entry for a John and Ellen, who could be his parents, in Darlington with a son called 'Johnson' born 1838 but no 'John' born ca 1822/25.. If anyone has any knowledge of the true parents of John (1822), I would love to hear from them. Terry.

Hi again Terry, Just had a quick look at the IGI and found a possibility for your birth of John Stainsby. John baptised 31 March 1823 Northallerton, Yorkshire to John and Ellen Stainsby. Other children were William 1820 Elizabeth 1826 Hannah 1829 Hellen 1835 Johnson 1838 Valerie
