    3. Hi Terry, I looked for John Stainsby on the 1841 census for you and found him under the spelling "Stanisby" He was at Bank Top, Darlington at the home of William Dunning. Both are Tile Makers and the reference is HO107 ED3 Folio 11 Page 16. I noticed that the couple John and Ellen who you feel might be his parents, are also spelled "Stanisby" on the Ancestry.com website. If you look at their next door neighbour, there is a Mary Clement living with her family, who would be about the right age.I don't know if you have John and Mary's marriage certificate, but this would certainly give the name of John's father.
