    3. Hi Rona: I have both DAWSON and DOWSON in my tree: Mary DAWSON married Rickinson SAWDON 31 Jul 1814 Whitby (IGI M007742) (poss. chr. 6 Jun 1787 Whitby, Yorkshire, parents Isaac and Ann) Elizabeth DAWSON married Thomas SAWDON 16 May 1796 Fylingdales (IGI M105352) (poss. chr. DOWSON 12 Jul 1767 Whitby, Yorkshire, parents William & Elizabeth) Elizabeth and Thomas were my fourth great-grandparents. Rickinson was Thomas's younger brother. Both Thomas (chr. 30 Oct 1768) and Rickinson (chr. 1 Jun 1779) were born in Cloughton, their father John SAWDEN was chr. 8 Sep 1734 at Wold Newton. I think their antecedents were from Weaverthorpe, but so far haven't found the connection. Not that any of this is likely to be connected to Stokesley, but, as I am not sure of the details of this generation, these are just my best guesses at the likely candidates in the Whitby area. Did any branch of the Stokesley DAWSONs happen to get married in Whitby? HTH Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA. Rona Benson wrote: 1.
