    1. Re: [ENG-NORTH-YORKS] SMITH of Thirsk
    2. Roz, Yes I would like to know more about Jacob SMITH b. 1780-1833. I believe his parents were the same Thomas SMITH & Elizabeth BROWN. My direct line is another son of this same family. So please when you have time please send on what you have about this family. Thanks,. Margaret L Maryland, USA In a message dated 6/17/2007 1:37:35 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Doronic@aol.com writes: Hi Margaret, There is a memorial at Thirsk church for a Jacob SMITH who died 15 August 1833, aged 53, and Ann his daughter, who died 15 Jan 1806 aged 3? months. Also next to this a stone in memory of John SMITH son of John and Mary SMITH who died 31 Oct 1842 aged 3 yrs 4 mths. The name Jacob SMITH may be significant; there is a family in this locality who had a Jacob in each generation for well over a hundred years; an elderly lady with Jacob as a middle name died only recently in Knaresborough, and a descendant of this family now lives in Australia. The earlier generations are quite difficult to track down, as they moved from property to property over quite a wide area, from Givendale and Blois Hall in the Ripon area, to Kirkby Hill and Aldborough, near Boroughbridge. Somewhere in a file or box I have quite a bit of information about this family; will try to locate what I can if you think it may be a useful link. Best wishes, Roz. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
