The name Jacob SMITH may be significant; there is a family in this locality who had a Jacob in each generation for well over a hundred years; an elderly lady with Jacob as a middle name died only recently in Knaresborough, and a descendant of this family now lives in Australia. The earlier generations are quite difficult to track down, as they moved from property to property over quite a wide area, from Givendale and Blois Hall in the Ripon area, to Kirkby Hill and Aldborough, near Boroughbridge. Somewhere in a file or box I have quite a bit of information about this family; will try to locate what I can if you think it may be a useful link.
