Hi Margaret, Good to know that you're still digging around in the North Yorks Moors area! I concur with most of the info in Harry's response to your post. I have cross-checked my modern OS 1:25000 map with a reproduction of OS maps from the 1857-1861 period (published by Cassini Maps: www.cassinimaps.com). The farm that you called Hardhill is that which is shown as Red House on the modern map. The farm shown as Highdale Farm on the modern map is shown as High Hardill on the old map. Morgan Intakes appears on both maps. Glaisdale Side on both maps appears to refer to the west side of the dale (where the road runs down the valley today) An Intake is the term used to described a piece of land that has been enclosed and taken into agriculture. kindest regards, Peter Appleton -----Original Message----- From: eng-north-yorks-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-north-yorks-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Mml45@aol.com Sent: 22 August 2007 09:56 To: eng-north-yorks@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-NORTH-YORKS] Fryup/Glaisdale area Hello, Can anyone on the list give me more insight about the location of the following farms are are in Glaisdale area?
