Hi Michael, 1, The obituary would possibly be in the Whitby Gazette which may be available in Whitby library. I am not sure what years they have but they certainly have a lot available to search . 2, We have a William HARRISON b circa 1780 in North Yorkshire who was in nearby Staithes in 1841 census. Date of death unknown. 3, We also have a William THOMPSON (not related to the above) b circa 1800 in E. Barnby, Lythe. This William was resident in Glaisdale in both 1841 and 1851 census returns. Beware both are very common names.
