    3. Hi My first post to the list - just wondering if anyone out there is seeking information about LYNN/ SADLER/GREENBANK families? The information I have is as follows: William Lynn Born about 1760 at West Tanfield, North Yorks, married Mary (his second wife; previously had been married to Anne GILET).Wm and Mary's children were John LYNN 1782 and Elizabeth LYNN 1788 both born at Well, North Riding John LYNN married Jane ASKQUITH in 1802 at Well, North Riding. Their children were William 1808, Thomas ?1805 and John ?1805 (the latter both later employed as butchers) - all born at Well William LYNN married Dorothy GREENBANK (daughter of Anthony GREENBANK and Mary MERINTON) and they had 8 children - Jane 1829, Mary 1831, Bessy 1834, Jane b/d 1837, Dorothy b 1838, Ann 1841, John, b1843, William b 1847. Again, they were all born at Well. Dorothy died in 1849 and he married Mary HUNTER. William Lynn was employed as a shepherd. He lived at a place called Moss Cottage in 1881. John (b1843) married Margaret ? and later married Harriet SADLER (of Kirklington) at Bedale in 1892. John and Harriet's son Ernest LYNN b 1893 was my great grandfather. I am looking for any information about these families. I am also interested in Well, given that my family remained there for so many years. I have "googled" the place but wonder if anyone can give me an impression of what it is like? Also - I'm interested in what a shepherd's life would have been like in the mid 1800s (hard, I would imagine!)?? Regards Julie
