Dear Listers Anyone with experience of the parish records for both the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire? Are these available on-line, or are there CD's that can be purchased? What periods would any CD's cover? And what about Bishops' Transcripts of Wills, or wills that are held at Leeds (i.e. not at the National Archives in London). Is there any way these can be researched or accessed from a distance? Any guidance would be most appreciated. Sincerely Dave Mitchell Cape Town South Africa Researching the "Riding Thompson's" from Richmond and the North Riding

I have purchased a transcript of the Whitby Registers from the Family History Section of the Yorkshire Archaeological Society, Claremont, Leeds. Some for Kilnwick and Great Ayton are on the web. Sadly all of them have errors and omissions, as I can verify! These are 17, 18 and early 19 century. Also several Fam. Hist. Socs. list microfiches for sale - I have not yet sorted out just what is available, but you will be lucky to find everything you want. Good Luck, Brian Mulhall (my researches take me all over Yorkshire, into N. Lincolnshire and, probably, into Co. Durham - families moved more than we sometimes believe) On 24 Feb 2008, at 19:18, Dave Mitchell wrote: > Dear Listers > > Anyone with experience of the parish records for both the North and > East Ridings of Yorkshire? > > Are these available on-line, or are there CD's that can be > purchased?
