On 23rd December 1745 Francis BELL married Ann APPLEBY at Hutton Rudby (source: IGI). I was wondering whether anyone was due to be searching the Hutton Rudby marriage registers at any point? If so I would be very grateful to know whether there is any indication within the entry to point me towards Francis' ancestry. If he were from outside the area there may have been a marriage Licence. If these are indexed anywhere is anyone able to help? I would love to be able to move back another generation. On the IGI there is the baptism for a Francis BELL in 1718, son of John, at Kirby Wiske but that is just a guess. I believe Ann was the daughter of Richard APPLEBY of Stokesley, baptised there 1719. She died in Hutton Rudby in 1790 given as "relict of Francis"; her age was said to be 75. Francis and Ann lived in Middleton-upon-Leven, a chapelry of Hutton Rudby, from (known) 1747 to 1753, moving on to Stokesley where Francis worked as a "Day Labourer at Busby". I believe he was probably the Francis BELL who died in Yarm in 1784. The BELL name has been arduous to research but I am pretty certain I can connect directly back to Francis. I would just love to move on from this point. Their son John BELL (bap. 1760 Stokesley) - my 4 x great-grandfather - married Mary BRADLEY of Middleton-on-Leven at Hutton Rudby on 11th October 1789 (source: IGI). It would be wonderful to have this entry checked for any additional information too. Grateful thanks Diane Johansen Researching BELL Middleton-on-Leven, Stokesley, Hornby (Nr Gt.
