    3. Hi Janet You do not state what year you are seeking the reference for As others have said, freebmd is good up to around 1910 and patchy thereafter, although they do have the images available up to 1935 (see view images from the home page) As Ancestry co-host freebmd they also have a version on their own site which is updated a few weeks after freebmd If you want a death registration after 1935 you would need to use one of the pay per view sites (there are several) or your nearest family history society, many have the GRO on microfiche or film Failing that post the details and I am sure someone will be able to help with your request Can I ask what it is you are expecting to find on the death cert? as details can be vague sometimes and death certs may sometimes not confirm it is the person you seek (if the informant is unknown and they perhaps died at other than the home address for example) It would be a shame to go to all this trouble only to find the information you seek is not on a death cert Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Hi Listers, > Can anyone tell me how to obtain the GRO number for a Death Certificate? > Thanks, Janet
