Thanks Michelle for your help George michele <michele.harrison@ntlworld.com> wrote: Hi George, Have a look at the Genuki page for Catterick. It gives a short history of Brough Hall and states that the estates devolved to a nephew, William Wright Esq. who assumed the name of Lawson and was created a baronet in 1841. It may be that you need to look for William Wright rather than Lawson in the census. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Catterick/Catterick90.html Hope this helps. George, >From http://www.nightbirds.demon.co.uk/family-history-researcher-census.html The date that the 1841 UK Census was taken is Sunday 6th/7th June 1841. or from - http://www.1841-census.co.uk/ The 1841 census was taken on June 6, covers midnight on June 6th and 7th. Would that help explain some of the confusion? What is the date of death for Sir Henry Lawson? This date would indicate when William Wright, Esq., the nephew could assume the name Lawson and be created a baronet in 1841.
